Lyrics:
The Ministry of Common Sense
The Ministry of Common Sense - giving you intelligence You'll be glad to know, every day they're looking out for you Spelling out the rules, so you'll know just what you need to do
The Ministry is Here Protecting you from harmful thoughts and give your mind a proper rinse The Ministry is Great in making sure we all think the same so we have a common sense.
The Ministry of Common Sense - building you a picket fence Never purchase books unless they've been government approved If anything offends, put it on the list to be removed
The Ministry is Here Protecting you from harmful thoughts and give your mind a proper rinse The Ministry is Great in making sure we all think the same so we have a common sense.
The Ministry of Common Sense - A healthy mind's the best defense Filtering your world, keeping you from hearing what is wrong To keep your conscience clean, they'll take the bleeding words out of this song.
The Ministry is Here They’re making sure we all think the same. Differing thought's a big offense The Ministry is glad that we all are now keeping straight and we all have common sense.

About The Song
The working title for this song was "Saturday" and it was about a guy getting excited about his upcoming date. I figured it would be a song that would be played every weekend on the radio, but I never got anywhere lyrically with it. My brother looked at some of the lyrics and said "You can do better than that" and so I sat back down to the drawing board.
Having just read a bunch of Harry Potter books, and hearing about all the Ministries, I thought that sounded like a very British title. I started the song out to be a bunch of silly nonsense that the Ministry would direct ("alway start your day with a muffin and a cup of tea" that was supposed to get sillier as the song went on. The lyrics eventually turned into an anti-censorship song, and how the ministry wants us all to think the same.
The bleeped word at the end was always meant to be censored. I'm not singing anything bad, but it certainly seems like it with the beep. An interesting note: A local radio station won't play any song with bleeps in it, so they probably won't this one! Ironic, no?
